On Transmutation of Poisons

"The best way to overcome Toxicity is to inundate oneself with the poison while categorically denying it has any effect whatsoever."

Mister Belfry was a master at Alchemical Composition, specifically in the field of transmutation of poisons on himself and occasionally a rat named Oskar, who had traded her death for a life serving as a test subject. In short order, the pair developed an intuitive bond. Although he could not hear the rat, she knew exactly what he was thinking. They worked together for hours on experiments, Oskar instinctively doing her master's bidding without him ever saying a word. She could shake her head Yes/No and was correct 100% of the time. She could do simple math on an abacus, she could, with a board constructed by Mr. Belfry, identify words he said aloud and even visually repeat sentences back as related and form small phrases of her own - "Cheese is good". Though Mr. Belfry cared little about accolades, Oskar thought herself haughty and most surely the most famous rat in all the kingdom.

They each held impressive lists of toxins they had overcome, most notably an Aconitum neurotoxin, as yet unnamed, extracted from a specimen given him by a botanist known only as Jolly Roger, who had recently returned from expedition in the Himalayas, exact location known only to himself. It was said by locals to be deadly. In Mr. Belfry it caused merely a rash and had no effect on Oskar in the least.
