The 2 Josies were half-sisters born just a half-hour apart. They were distinguished by middle initial as Josie C, for Carol, their mothers' mother, and Josie G, for Ginny, their mothers' triplet who had died at birth. They were constant companions, for they had been treated as twins their whole lives. They looked alike & dressed alike, they shared a bed and answered in unison when called. However they did have very different personalities - one of them light, one of them dark. When Josie G was told that she was to be married soon, Josie C became terrified. She felt that all the pacts they made to each other about never being separated were dissolving, even though her sister assured her that she would not leave her behind. So on the very first walk Josie G had gone on with her future husband, while they strolled along the creek discussing their future life together, she told him that if he wanted her for a wife he would have to marry the other Josie too.
