Tropical Tripping
Well I was driving along Alligator Alley, on my way to Miami,
When I thought I would stop at Chokoloskee just to see my Baby,
My Lady was glad to see me, so we drank some Margaritas,
down by the the old smugglers store, under the tall tropical trees,
where the Gulf waters were shining, out to the Ten Thousand Islands shores,
and the fish were just a' leaping, the sun was shining bright,
and the towering clouds were climbing high up into the azure skies.
Then she looked at me and said, maybe, we should take a boat down to the Keys,
and I said sounds real good Honey, whatever you please,
So we sailed out on that ocean, and drank some of that old Pirate rum potion,
Until soon we noticed some commotion, as the wind began to blow,
then along came a hurricane, that yet didn't even have a name,
and then we knew for sure, this wasn't just a game,
but the good Captain ran before the wind, and we just made it into port,
kissed the ground we were walking on, and drank some more Rum for sport
We got up late the next morning and took a plane to Miami,
got lost in the crowds and music playing in South Beach by the sand,
took a Limo ride that was a birthday party, full glass decanters on the side,
can't remember much from then on, except that was a very wild ride
because the owners of the Limo were pouring, while sitting by our side
When we woke up somewhat later, she said she always wanted to see an Alligator,
So we rented a two-seater, with a sunroof and a stereo, sang along to some tunes
drove back westerly through the big green Glades, along the famous highway,
saw the big white birds a' flying, and the big lazy Gators sunning
along the sides of the byway, where the waters were flowing
and the red orange sunset was glowing,
when we got back to Chokoloskee,
there I said good bye to my Lady
until next time we would go a' traveling
without planning where we were going
So if you're looking for some tropical persuasion,
get up early and rise to the occasion,
let the tropical breezes guide you,
fire up the old jalopy, and hit the road
where wide open Florida skies will find you
new places and new faces may surprise you
and the blues will drift away
with the newness of the day
the Alley is awaiting
for you to take a ride
on the carefeee wild side.
