I guess I never really learned
To abide by all the rules.
I've tried my hand at all love's games,
Seems to me that they're tailor-made for fools.
To believe such lies as "Forever I'll be there,"
You end up being the one who cries.
STEP ONE - Believe they care.
STEP TWO seems to be the one that catches all but a few,
The careless words of dreamy eyes
You fall for, "I Love You".
STEP THREE - "Love Me Only, For You Are The Only One."
STEP FOUR - "You Won't Be Lonely" but the lies have just begun.
STEP FIVE as you hold him tightly,
His mind drifts far away
To someone in some other dream.
STEP SIX - "I'm Here To Stay."
STEP SEVEN's when you're waiting and time passes so slowly.
STEP EIGHT - When you finally realize you have to let him go.
STEP NINE is the breaking point when he has the nerve to say,
He thought at first it'd work out
But it has to end today.
He never meant to hurt you and now,
For number ten,
When you're still in love with him and he is gone,
In love's games,
You've reached the end.
