Miri to Bintulu by Bus

Miri is the second largest city in Sarawak and is considered to be the birth place of the petroleum industry of Sarawak and Malaysia. The quite famous GunungMulu National Park which is renowned all over the world which is just 2 hours away from the city is one of the most reverred eco tourism destinations. This beautiful city is also the main tourist gateway for the Loagan Bunut National Park, Lambir National Park as well as the Niah Caves. During my stay here, I was amazed at the exotic coral reefs the city has. It serves as a picture perfect place to end your journey in this small oil city of Malaysia. I was convinced that my next destination city would be Bintulu which is just 12 hours away from Miri by road. To my surprise there was only one mode of transportation lying on the route between these two cities which was a Bus. So, based on the recommendation of a friend and several other locals from within the city I headed to this website  redbus . The bus booking process was quite simple and I booked my bus tickets within minutes while sitting in a comfortable couch in the hotel lounge.

There were about three operators plying on the route between these two cities which were Bus Asia Biaramas, Sungei Merah and Bintang Jaya Express. Bintan Jaya Express was one of the options available on this route and since I wanted to cut short the duration of the journey between the two cities I booked my bus tickets with them. Another Express Bus option that I had was Sungei Mera where the duration of the journey was about 4 hours which was about 30 minutes more than Bintang Jaya Express. This was precisely because Sungei Mera offered a 30 minute short break during the course of the journey. The cost of the ticket for Bintang Jaya Express was about SGD20 which I found to be quite reasonable compared to other express bus options available. I immediately booked an executive coach with this operator through the website. Bingtan Jaya had only one bus plying in the entire day which was in the afternoon. This was a major change for me as I always prefer travelling at night. Nevertheless this experience was also quite good.

Sungei Mera had about 4 buses plying throughout the day with ticket prices fixed at SGD27 for all four buses. There were two coaches avaiable with Sungei Mera which was standard and VIP. Bus Asia Biaramas had the highese number of buses plying throughout the day. There were five buses departing at different times letting the passenger choose their time of convenience. The Operator also had several short breaks for refreshments. Owing to this the duration of the journey went upto about 12 hours. The first bus departs at 6:30 am in the morning and the other one at 10:00 am. There are 3 more buses departing at 2:00 pm, 2:30 pm and 3:00 pm. I would recommend you to book the afternoon bus to cover the maximum duration of your journey during non peak hours. The cost of the tickets were fixed at SGD25 for all 5 buses.
