I've left you behind without a second thought

Thrown away into the unforgiving world

Not only that, I crumpled you a bit before I tossed

I was naive then, hell I still am now

Not realizing what I had till it was gone

I can never apologize enough, though I seem to say it a lot lately

I think of you my dear, more than you probably thought

But assumptions have got me in trouble before

That is no more, my past behind me

But I wish to see you in front of me, in my future

Just to see you in person even, to tell you in person the things I should

But is it possible now?

You have a life of your own, a beautiful child and loving partner

Would I only put a damper on it?

I wouldn't know, but I doubt you know either

So it is here I reach out. To reconnect with the girl I knew

It is up to you to accept my invitation

Or to toss it as I have with you

Just know that either way I only wish you the best for you

And I hope to see you ahead in my future instead of behind me in my past
