WHO'S GONNA (IT SHOULDN'T BE A QUESTION)

WHO'S GONNA (IT SHOULDN'T BE A QUESTION)

(T. Beechey)

Who's gonna lift the burdens? Who's gonna give them hope?

Who's gonna hear their words and provide the needed rope?

Who's gonna show they care and love because I need to know:

Could anyone actually stare in those eyes and tell them "No"?

Who's gonna heal the sorrows? Who's gonna lend a hand?

Who's gonna bring tomorrows to this stricken land?

Who'll help the ones therein? See, I really want to know:

Could anyone actually stare in those eyes and tell them "No"?

It shouldn't be a question

And yet it's always asked

To those who wear compassion

But merely as a mask

And their replies are either none

Or they set out to disgrace

All the dreams which have begun

To finally fall in place

Who's gonna cure the hurting? Who's gonna dry the tears?

Who's gonna raise the curtain that represents the fears?

Who's gonna spare an answer? I honestly got to know:

Could anyone actually stare in those eyes and tell them "No"?

Who's gonna make it happen? Who'll give that extra breath?

Who's gonna find those trapped n between life and death?

Who'll say a prayer in silence? I feel that I must know:

Could anyone actually stare in those eyes and tell them "No"?

(INSTRUMENTAL BREAK)

Who's gonna make a difference? Who's gonna take that step?

Who's gonna turn the darkness into where the light is swept?

Who's gonna share in this task? I'd truly like to know:

Could anyone actually stare in those eyes and tell them "No"?

Who's gonna stop the crying? Who's gonna ease the pain?

Who's gonna stop the dying so they may live again?

Who's gonna clothe the barren? C'mon, I have to know:

Could anyone actually stare in those eyes and tell them "No"?

It shouldn't be a question

And yet it's always asked

Allow me to make a suggestion

As to who can fill the task ---

You and I and everyone

Within the human race

How will we know when we're done?

There's a smile upon each face
