I don’t have too many memories of when I was 4 year old but a thing that I do remember was the day I went with my father to pick up his Brand new Chevy 2000. The seats where plastic lined and the inside smelled like new, the gear lever and the clutch worked perfectly and the car Windows where untouched. My father said to me that he find it a very useful car and that he will only use it for a while. Every day my dad will take us to school in his little white car, sometimes he would talk to us about anything, I always learned something new in my mornings and I think maybe there were days that I learn more talking to him than in school, sometimes we would listen to the radio, he liked hearing to Pedro Ferriz in his early show and we will discuss about what he said, or in times he would listen to Don Robert and get mad at what he said, sometimes I would fall asleep and he will recline my seat so that I can sleep well. My dad’s Chevy has seen a lot of places, from the hot Sonora to the colorful Guanajuato my dad’s car have been in more than 10 states all around Mexico. This is the car where I learn to drive and I’m thankful for that because after learning in that every other car is easy as pie. The seat of the car are disjointed and the inside smell a little funny, the gear lever and the clutch doesn’t work very nicely and the front window has a crack from a rock that hit it in one of his travels, It may not be the best car of all and not even the best Chevy of all but a lot of great thing and a lot of great stories has happened in there. My father told me when he bought it that he would use it only for a while and this “while” has last more than 16 years. My father tells me that he hasn’t been able to get another car but I think that is also that he don’t wants to get rid of his faithful friend, his good old Chevy 2000.
