Maybe if you really didn’t know

Maybe if my love and soul weren’t heaven sent

Maybe if with me your time was spent

Maybe if I didn’t really care

Maybe if you didn’t know

Maybe if I didn’t grow

Maybe if I was the average hoe

Maybe if I hid it well

Maybe if you didn’t know me well

Maybe if I knew you better

Maybe if tears didn’t drench my 8 page letters

Maybe if I could let go of you

Maybe if you believed in you

Maybe if you honestly trusted me

Maybe if you felt free to confide in me

Maybe if I didn’t give you so much

Maybe if we didn’t have to schedule a touch

Maybe if I didn’t respect you

Maybe if I talked down to you

Maybe if I was after your money

Maybe if you thought of me

Maybe if I didn’t write and send you poetry

Maybe if your life track was right

Maybe if I wasn’t more than the prototype

Maybe then we’d be alright.
