The Great Stage

We are all actors in a show,

Playing out our little parts,

We might have changed our costumes,

But we're just like we were at the start.

Our roles may well alter,

Our accents might all change,

Underneath the differences,

Its true we're all the same.

And so the plot now deepens,

Showing life in different ways,

Minutes turn to hours,

And hours into days.

Emotions are the driving force ,

Behind all that unfolds,

They shape the lives of the actors,

And the stories that are told.

At times they hurt so badly,

And seemed to be so cruel,

But when they made us happy,

The bad times did not seem real.

I ponder as i sit now,

My hair has all gone grey,

I've learnt to realise the worth,

Of every single day.

Eventually the curtain lowers,

Eternity is at an end,

I say my goodbyes to those i know,

My family and my friends.

I wonder who'll be there to greet me,

When i leave the stage,

Will it be my memories?

Will it be my sage?

I suppose i'll be kept guessing,

Until the very last,

Then be told its nothing much,

Just all part of the past!
