“Please!” I beg,
“Take my soul instead!
Don't lead him away;
Or allow him to stray!
Do not tear us apart—
But, keep him in my heart.”
I long for him to be by my side—
Or at least—
To hold his memory.
I cry,
“Don't take my father's whole—
Leave his soul alone!
That is for my keepsake;
To remind me of the heart ache,
That death has brought, unto me!”
