I Can Make It

I can make it in this world.

Deep within me, I know I can;

In my soul, is a ray of light;

Under my fear, is a sign of hope.

Something is holding me back

How to push forward,

And hold my head up.

Spanish books,

Thrown at the back of my head;

School doors, slammed in my face;

Rumors spread, of jealousy and hate.

What has this society fallen to?

How can you hurt your own kind?

Having to face this foolish world—

Alone.

No hand in mine,

as I walk this lonely road.

Through life, I have an empty space;

By my side,

No one to keep up my pace;

Or am I behind, watching you succeed?

No I am on target, on time.

I will make it through, on my own;

Time, will soon enough be mine
