FOURTH OF JULY
His youth spent proudly in the Boy Scouts,
An Eagle Scout and Order of the Arrow,
He proudly joined the Army after high school
Served his term in Vietnam with valor
A purple heart though only slightly wounded
He returned home afterward joining the VFW.
The Fourth of July fireworks was his delight
Attending each and every event in uniform
Which always fit though becoming a bit snug
Knowing in his heart that Vietnam was just
Since America was always right in its causes
God having ordained it as his country.
