“Accidental Overdose” the autopsy reported
As the cause of death of one of America’s finest
No box to check for sadly addicted Vietnam vet,
Or suicide in daily increments of drug addiction
Or he died of a wounded spirit killed by neglect
Just one of the twenty two vets killed by suicide
On every day of the week as “collateral damage”
Not from war but from a “containment action”
His marker inscribed “Valliant Young Warrior”
Instead of a rigorously honest inscription:
“Scared Young Boy.”
