The sun rose with red flames in the morning sky
The incessant drone of jets firebombing napalm
Like so many daybreaks the air full of fatalities
The air replete with the awful smell of death
The skin melting from burnt bodies in the jungle
The incessant sounds and sights of daily warfare
Inundating the minds of these mere mortal men
With horrific sights and sound reverberating into
The deepest interior regions of their psyches
The looped tapes forever replaying the atrocities
As invasive thought triggered by ordinary events
In the daily lives of these men returning home.
