The years have taken its toll
on the fervor of my feelings
those few enduring passions
tempered a bit by time
time taming intense anger
true tranquility
silent serenity
found deep within my psyche
the days of my old age staid
by a stillness in my soul
death’s nearness neither
sought nor circumvented
just a quiet acceptance of
that eternal fate of us all
resignation a wonderful grace
for my inner spirit.
