the waves
slapped harshly on sandy beach
as the storm clouds wander as playful children
running, bumping into each other
few still drops resonate
soaking our skin
as we lay below (earth tipped slowly)
with our eyes closed
beaten lullabies flow through salty breeze
blown filled hair
sand covered knees)
i stare picture clear
(underneath eyelids
drown breathing from my side
you and i in summertime
grasping hands; earth stood still
(for but a moment)
as rewind of time brings smiling
past joyous occasions
where we'd laugh (creating) wrinkled faces
grabbing stomachs, forgetting our ages
snap back from dreams (realities shake
as i awake into seeing orange blossom sky
the children's laugh fades
away from the earth) into nothing (distant voices)
unseen, unknown as the clouds in the sky
(left are the wrinkles by our eyes; a product of time
but our smiles
still wide)
now another storm has gone
( and i'm still holding your hand
