An overcast day:
sunlight eludes my gaze; but
all green plants' leaves, and
parts of my skin, bask in the
unimpeded, invisible rays.

Author's Notes/Comments:
Today is the forty-ninth anniversary of my arrival at college for the beginning of freshman year. The campus was a delightful place in which walking to class, studying in the library, or eating in the dining hall did not require shoes---barefoot or socksheathed sufficed. Even the overcast days, in that vicinity, were unusually balmy; and during those balmy weeks only precipitation could compel the use of shoes.
