A friend got angry at me once
for walking too slowly.
"Life moves fast," they said
"Slow down and you'll miss everything"
I had already spent years at full speed.
Entire seasons passed without witness.
Sunsets dissolved behind notification screens.
Love stood quietly in rooms
I was too busy performing
to actually inhabit.
So I looked at them and said-
"Maybe slow people miss opportunities."
But fast people miss themselves."
And a person who arrives everywhere
having lost themselves in transit
has not gained a life.
They have accumulated destinations
they were never truly present for.
The life you are running toward
is happening right now beneath your feet.
While you run.
