Lives inside my head

A love that I once had

Is now a memory instead

The ghost of the past

Visits with nostalgia

Certain smells will bring it back

And I feel like I'm around ya'

A family once gathered

The house was filled with cheer

There's a silence in the room

That those who miss you hear

Things are a little different now

But different can be okay

The ghost of the past

Present joy, he takes away

Time to make new memories

And leave the old behind

The part of me that misses you

Has now been lost in time

I'll leave the past in the past

And I'll seek the love I find today

For my joy is only found in now

I won't let the past take it away
