You Taught Me Boundaries

 I wish I learned a softer way,

Without the ache of those long days.

Without the nights I stayed awake,

Still holding things that shouldn't stay.

But pain can sharpen what you see,

And teach a heart what not to be.

It shows the line you should not cross,

And what is not worth one more loss.

So no, I don't thank all the pain,

But I respect what it became.

You taught me boundaries, clear and true—

And now they stand because of

wish I learned a softer way,

Without the ache of those long days.

Without the nights I stayed awake,

Still holding things that shouldn't stay.

But pain can sharpen what you see,

And teach a heart what not to be.

It shows the line you should not cross,

And what is not worth one more loss.

So no, I don't thank all the pain,

But I respect what it became.

You taught me boundaries, clear and true—

And now they stand because of you.
