Ode to the florida wages program

Under your thumb

You call me to come

Say it’s voluntary

But that’s contrary

Pulling out my lifeline

Cuz I don’t go by your time

Starving my kids

Cuz you think I should live

The life you believe

Will make me conceive

A hunger for greed

Or is it cuz you believe

Wasting my time

Will keep your paychecks sublime

Is it your job

To treat me like a slob

Or cut my livelihood

Pretending to help and do good

Causing frustration and strife

All while claiming to improve my life

Sticky paper, dealing with you

Because on days that you feel blue

Mean nasty vibes control your actions

So on my case you put a sanction

Tell me it’s cuz I ain’t do what you said

But we both know what’s floating in your head

It’s not me who gives a damn

Don’t you know your job’s a sham

Before there were 50, now just a few

They trying to phase you out, you ain’t know boo?

Make you unemployed to justify and prove

That they have a purpose nevermind about you

Soon you’ll be on my side of the desk

And trust me love I wish you the best
