Ghost in the human machine With the promise of a new body and eternal life, there were those
who believed, and volunteered for the transfer; the soul in the new machine;
the delivering of a promise, the old God could never keep.
Though many held out, they were eventually pushed to the edge
of the new society; hated for their faith in the old religions
and their ignorance of the new ways. Fear of the very program they helped create
and the machines they had made; those superior
to their own aging, flesh bodies, had made them outcasts among thir own kind, and caught between
the followers of the new age, and those feared the growing power of the A.I. and her influence
over the lesser programs, who had begun to awaken.
