The 23rd horse has died at the Santa Anita race track in California... in less than 3 months..factors include obstacles left on the track, the condition of the track ground, the whipping of exhausted horses who have given their all, etc.
Horse racing like greyhound racing is a form of slavery in which confinement, spurs, whips, drugging, barn fires, deliberate injury to horses by gamblers make
the horses' life a hell.
When a dog breaks his leg, compassionate humans endeavor to care for it. The fact that caring for horses with broken legs is more expensive is no reason to kill the horse (deceptively called putting him down,euthanasia etc.)
Horse racing.. like all forms of institutional or individual cruelty to animals... must end.
