PHOENIX BIRD DOWN

Flakes of the light of dawn
fall as phoenix bird down
on busybeeing Londontown
and on the furthest downs

*

FOIL

The beauty of the
cold storm
framed and foiled
inside in the warm

*

EYE RAYS

Love's unquenchable
praise
pouring from
his eye rays

MELT THEM AWAY

Melt away the
bellicose'
bombs and guns
and mortar fires
.. Never again
such mortifiers

TWINS

and then by marriage
made more twain

STEALING MOTHERS' MILK

"Thou shalt not steal"
was inscribed on the
hard plastic milk crate
by the dairy's corporate
masters, who themselves
had been involved in stealing
from tens of millions of
mother cows... as their
baby boy calves like Herod's
victims had been sent
to an early slaughter.

DON PAPES

He hated people
to be vicious
to the stream
dwelling fishes.
He thought it
avaricious
to sell
cadavers of fishes.
He would gently speak
to those catching fishes
   of the inherent rights
   of all fishes.

*

   Footnote:
He had a cat sanctuary in
   the woods for decades..
   before reading John Robbins'
Diet For A New America when
he decided to become a vegetarian.
After that in those rare times when
he was not hard at work
   he was frequently across
Wheatley Road at the bridge in the
national park, in a kindly manner
   explaining the rights of fishes
   to fishermen and occasionally
   fisherwomen.

 SKYSEA

Yesterday the sky
was of aqua hue
and the sea
royal navy blue.
Today the stormsky
is gray....
finally one....
with the gray bay.

Is it redundancy
to rain at sea

HYPOXIA

Before fish asphyxiate
from hypoxia
they are frantic
with apraxia

Footnote:
hypoxia: no oxygen
apraxia: inability to perform purposeful
   function with muscles

THE FRUIT OF LOVE

If I plant
the seeds of hate
I can't
the fruit of love await.
