Jesus of the 100th lamb..
the prodigal son....
the handicapped man who
sat by the Bethesda Pool
for so many years...
the 11th hour worker.
He who with the Father
answers all prayers..
some immediately..
more gradually..
He who loves every leper
... every despised Samaritan
He of infinite heart
and infinite hearing attuned to all cries
He who chose for his
nativity... a manger..
in a stable with slave animals
He of the Essenes*
who drove the moneychangers
out of the temple... for
they were also the butchers..
who after taking the coins
brought out their knives
for animal sacrifice
May He now move to
defuse all nuclear warheads,
all bombs, all weapons..
and immerse us all
in endless Peace

There is more focus by some on Peter as a coward who denied Jesus
three times than on what he had done just a few hours earlier...
which was to risk his life taking up a sword against the Roman soldiers
who came to arrest Jesus in Gethsemane. It was then that Jesus told him
to put down his sword. Later Peter would ask to be crucified upside down,
not feeling worthy to be crucified in the same manner as Jesus was.
