Little boy penguins

with their builtin tuxes

always prepared for evening



FANS



Some want perfection

in their stars

Others rejoice at

flaws and scars.



FEAR OF WATER



Her aquaphobia

made even the sails on boats

into shark fins



SILENT SERVANTS



Fruit trees spin all day

to drop presents at our feet



FEAR NOT



A rival she feared

had cut in twain

her link with her swain

Her fears were groundless

.. Together again







SUNBATH



Often found was his archrival

embedded in dusty shelves

archival

while he himself

communed with God

outside with sun's arrival.







COCKROACH LUCK



Oh a cockroach is better luck

than a cricket upon the hearth..

for she magnetizes to your home

.. those who love every heart.

a japamala

of Basho haiku goldstrung

by sweet memory



MOSS PAINT



Why has God painted

some ebony branches

moss green and

some lichen orange





BUBBLE BLOWER BOWL



The sun rose..

a gold bubble

blown by the

bubble blower

bowl of the sea



SUFI NONVIOLENCE



Sufis say suffer not

suffocation or suffering

to any creature



COWSLIP



Where Mother Earth

is rooted by cowslips

less likely are

prisoner cows to slip



(Ina, a cow split from

stem to stern as her right

and left legs went opposite

directions in mud)





CHAPLAIN



Courageous with the pacifist

words of Christ

was the chaplain

In time they converted

even the captain



FIVE CRESCENT MOONS



5 little crescent moon

claws

in the black velvet

night of cat's paw



CRICKETS



Hiding are the crickets

away from the fields of cricket

Hiding are the crickets

away from the croquet wickets

Hiding from the mowers

in the shielding thickets



MIRROR OF THE MERE



Candle flame shadows

flicker in the mirror

Mooncloud shapes

flicker in the mere



RIVER OF LIGHT



A river of light..

carolers winding through

the lane.. under eaves of

lamplit snow



CRYSTAL BALL



One can see the future

the

mist of the crystal ball

clears.

One can see his path

when strong emotions subside

in the heart.



MESA SHADOWS



The mesa in the desert..

a sundial

.. shadows changing

each hour

Clothed by grey fog

the green frog
