through swirling knives of chipper

keep chickens in factory
farms in 3 x 1 cages
.. 6 to 9 to a cage..
debeaked? in constant light
.. never being able to spread
their wings?

FREEZING RAIN GIFT OR COLORADO CAT

Pain outweighed fear
and a pregnant stray cat came
to the door in the
storm, icecrystals
formed on her belly hair.

Reminding me of
the skeletal dog
with the telescoped intestine
and the pawprints of blood
in the snow

PROTECT THE BIRDS

Because of her God
will sooner bring a world of no more suffering..
where none are swallowing
a chicken's or a swallow wing.
