Bethesda is the healing pool.
Angels stir the waters
and the first person
into the waters is made whole.
But in Bethesda Maryland at NIH
and the Naval Hospital
all animals
who enter... are not healed
but sickened, tortured,
electroshocked, confined
to restraining chairs, denied
water, denied sleep, cut,
given poisons.

making a ladder by standing
on each other's shoulders..
to reach into the NIH mail bag

profiteering pirateerings pharmaceutical
companies.. much of it
inflicting agony and confinement
on animals ... the drugs often
have lethal side effects such
as strokes, heart attacks,
blindness (diabetes drugs), liver and kidney damage,

They scamper outside in the trees
Inside is animal agony
OAKCRUMBS
Squirrels have
been untidy..
leaving their
acorn crumbs
all over the
sidewalk.. like popcorn
on the floor of a movie theater.
They leave some to become
oak trees.
crunching future
oaks into oblivion
