SIPPING ETERNITY

Humankind prefers vessels

from which to sip eternity

TURBAN

Abdullah was assassinated.

His turban rolled off of him,

like a hubcap from a crashed

car,

like a nest for baby birds

from an axed tree in his prime.

PITCHER

We gave him a pitcher

He gave us the sea.

(to C Lassell)

THE SEED MADE FLESH

The seed did unroll

her predestined scroll

...no outer control

as the seed is made flesh

FIREWEED

Fragrant fireweed fringes firehydrants

PETER HAMMOND

He draws us in to a world of

beauty so quickly...

films a fragile translucent

veil stuck on the needles

of a cactus.. to symbolize

the mistakes of relationship.

(In The Master Blackmailer)

SWORD TO SEA

"Make a decision"

said the sword to the sea

"You must divide yourself

into priorities."

Yet knowing that each

of her drops was holy

the ocean decided

that she would be whole.

MARBLE AND DIAMONDS

God whose heat makes

diamonds of charcoal

and marble of limestone

.. does also the opposite

.. turning into pouring portals

.. hearts which had been stone

SPINNERS

The spider and the ivy vine

had a contest.. who could spin

the faster.. the webweaver

or the tendril stitcher..

until they saw the sun..

whose endless rays

were with the

sea stitching wee

misty lace plumes

which became cloud looms

.. water and sun

intertwined

spinning infinite blooms
