THE THIRD VIAL

*

The third vial
.. not the violet
lavender veil
spread all over
the nonviolent vale
but crimson violent
and vile
crimson from pig blood
crimson from 'veal'
We each have the power
to turn
scarlet scars
into violet wholes.

NOT HONORED

*

Mad cow marshmallow,
animal flesh, sheep tallow...
for these ingredients,
animals sent to gallows

In bodies of the eaters,
these animals' diseases lie fallow.
They were slain by those who
do not God's creatures hallow.

was served.

WATER SIGNS

Water signs' or water houses'
anger is
beneath the surface of
water or visibility.

DUSTY LAMPSHADE

Dust on the lampshade
does not impede
the light.
Physical injuries
do not impede
soul's fight.
A broken claw

does not impede
soul sight.

UNCONSCIOUS HUMANS

There was a turtle
whose name was Myrtle.
They served her body
liquefied into soup
in a bowl made
of her shell.

EDUCATIONAL CHAUVINISM

*

Many forms of educational
chauvinism and tyranny
continue in the hospital
and office.
Receptionists and accountants
are called by their first names,
while those who've spent 3 years
acquiring an MD
are called 'Doctor'.

CHARACTER OF A STREAM

Does a stream
have weaker character
because she takes the
easier way, flowing not
uphill, but downward,
seaward, to her Godgoal.

SLAVE AUCTION

The auctioneer
gaveled the slave wife
to the manor house kitchen
... the husband to
a Caribbean island plantation
and the teen children to
a different state.

A DIFFERENT PATH
