PAVAROTTI

May an infinite range of
notes..
come bursting from our throats
...

as water from rock
for peace in Iraq..

when we hear Pavarotti
for high notes strive
.. the stream of hope
enters ears..
and lifts all lives

WHAT'S IN AN A

A can be 'not'
as in amoral
A can be feminine
as in professor emerita
A can be plural
as in .. not florum but flora
A can be crimson
as in the scarlet letter.
A can be the tiny
beginning..
as in alpha
A can be the grade
of a kind teacher
or a brilliant student

BABY CLOUD

A little baby cloud
just above the horizon
.. a footstool to
climb to paradise

STRIATIONS

In the background
striated clouds in stripes
... the support for
the fluffy cloud notes
in the foreground

MIRROR SHAPE

The fact that a mirror
is hung in a crooked fashion
or diamond shaped.. does
not change the nature
of its reflection

QUILTED SEA

That day it was a choppy
sea below a choppy cloud
sky..
a quilted sea below a quilted
sky.

WATERLING

The river reflects
the arch of the bridge
taking it from a hemisphere
to a complete sphere

OHIO REPUBLICANS

The Ohio Dept. of Health would
rather fund an 800 number to
tell you which beaches are shut
down from ecoli (colon bacteria
from factory farms and human
sewage) contamination.. than
to shut down the Voinovich begun
farms.

Senator and Governor Voinovich
has killed at least 2 kinds of birds
in Ohio.. the tiny fragile
mourning doves he
added to the list of legally hunted
birds.. the billions of chickens
murdered by Agrigeneral now Buckeye
which was invited to Ohio by Voinovich
after being expelled from Germany for
cruelty and neglect to human workers
and animals... then he tried
to remove protections for migratory
birds..

COW CHIPS

Time turns cow chips
fed back to cows
into chipped beef
on the butcher's
chopping block

(the USDA allows
manure, fecal matter,
from animals to be fed
back to the animals at
a 40 to 50% ratio..
mixed with grain.. one
of the terms for this
is wastelage)

MARS NEPTUNE

His mars was conjunct her neptune
.. the anger in him which enraged others
.. delighted her.. she saw it as full of
humor, iconoclasm and spirit

TIBETAN ROCKS

In Tibet the monks left piles of
carved rocks for tourists..
each containing a Pali sutra
of the teachings of Buddha..
two visitors were fighting over
a rock.. one finally one and took
it to be translated.. it was a message
of nonattachment and peace

DROUPADI'S SARI

Life is a flower
unfolding petal by petal..
in seemingly endless
measure..
until we realize we are
the treasures..

Why were some of the Abu
Ghraib interrogations
conducted in shower stalls?

so that the effects of
anal rape and beatings
and terrorizing
(feces, blood and urine)
could be washed down the drain.

as in slaughterhouses there are big
drains to capture the feces and urine
dumped in terror as well as the
blood from severed arteries

TERMINATORS

Multispecies terminators
are all exterminators.
Poisoning the watershed
with chemicals and bloodshed
Using horrible glue traps is
Terminix..
It is stamped with an ermine hex.

CAPTAINS AND CHAPLAINS

Drone polycidal bombers
launched by navy captains
Giving emotional support
for the crimes:
silent military chaplains

INDIGO

Near Maine's cranberry bogs
full of sweet little polliwogs
there do grow
blueberries indigo.

Slaves were forced
to rip off leaves
for plantation dough
from the dye of
indigo.

At the horizon
where the sun is rising
there the aqua of the sky
turns to sea's indigo.

In the waters
beyond the shallows
where the depths
do fishes hallow
there sea flows
from aquamarine
to indigo.

As the soul
deeper grows
aura turns from
green to indigo.

OLD SOULS

Young souls are
hard sour and green fruit.
Old souls
are soft and sweet and pink

LIGHT LEAVES THE FLAME

Light and warmth
leave the form of the flame...
They no longer belong
to the candle parent
which continues to glow.

INFINITE SIPS

She has taken
infinite creek sips...

MARBLEIZED

"High" court judges become as calcified
as their marble courtrooms.

GLOAMING

The afternoon's gray gloom
has been wanded to gold gloaming
whose gleams streams into the room.

INEVITABLE

God who is Love has made each of us
in the Image of Perfect Love..
nothing we do can change that.

God will take each of us home
as a river floats a boat to the
sea, as a tide washes sooner or
later every messaged bottle
to the shore.

LOANSHARK CAPITALISTS START MANY WARS

It is conflict they breed
using competing creeds
... all for for loan
shark capitalist greed

GOLGOTHA GALLOWS

Around Golgotha's empty gallows
a surrounding light which all hallows

SMITHFIELD PLAGUE

Not purples wisteria
or jasmine mysterious
but filthy listeria
