LOST LOVE
Under the wreck of the Hesperus
Is a tale of love lost; under a leaf
Is the hidden suffering. Listen!
Balalaikas and sitars play by themselves;
They give themselves up to the wail
And lament of unrequited love.
Poets are constrained to write about
Ships that never make it to port. This
Is how port wine is fortified wine?
The sea is replete with those who
It swallowed in the name of love;
When I lost you I was all at sea.
I feel like a murderer when I write
About lost love; I accept the punishment
Of sea salt in my tears from sitars.
