This Rasta Man

This Rasta from a Shanty town

This Rasta knew how to get around;

Knew redolent smells of Jambalaya

And from his weed could get no higher.

This Rasta’s hair like pasta man

This Rasta could kick a can;

Knew of Jimmy Cliff’s Zebulon

Fought off demons all day long.

This Rasta was a half Irish Patty;

This Rasta’s name is Natty;

He never drank no “devil’s soup”:

Walked straight without no droop

This Rasta followed Ras Tafari

Went to Africa on a Safari;

Praised his guru Hale Selassie

Moved to Florida, lived in Tallahassee.

This Rasta man was a Reggae king;

This Rasta man knew how to sing;

For this we praise Bob Marley

Sitting on the throne of a Harley.

Always remember Jamaican words,

It carried wisdom from sacred weed

Their sacred cows come from birds

As it spreads from deed to deed:

“Pit inna di sky, it fall inna yuh e’ye”

Meaning, if you spit into the sky,

It falls into your eye.
