+ 9TH POEMS: At Mark 4, 39-41, I Obtained Understanding
[Genesis 50:20]
The spiritual paradox of this ravenous illness
is that it creates in my chaotic soul a stillness
in which my self-satisfaction fails and ceases;
and I realize how much more (though a Catholic Christian) I need of Jesus:
how much more I need of Christ Jesus, and His infinite Mercy
to escape this world of dim contrasts and blazing controversy.
This illness is a bonus and present to me gifted
by Jesus that my soul may be the more toward Him uplifted.
