Where Things Belong

With you now standing over my shoulder

I hold the puzzle pieces in my hand.

We’ve learned time can take a mighty boulder

And make it little more than shifting sand,

So I hold on to you and bite my lip,

Study every possible connection,

Press the buttons with a stiff fingertip

Before we make our final inspection.

Life has taken us both down many roads -

We know they’re long when the choices are wrong.

That’s why I’m determined to crack these codes,

Uncover the places where things belong.

As we hold hands at the end of the race

Everything should be in its proper place.
