Translate My Heart

All time before you a lifetime ago,

The music before the curtain rises.

I’d be a fool to not let my love show –

To do so is what my heart advises.

From now on dear you need never be alone –

All you need do is simply call my name.

I’ll bandage all bruises, place you on a throne –

True love abounds here and it’s yours to claim.

Your wounds hurt me greater than they do you.

Please let me be the one to make it all okay.

My fondest wish is to give you your due –

I was created to love, honor and obey.

In any language my heart translates to

The words will always lead me back to you.

Author's Notes/Comments:

A friend of mine told me I really was born to be a wife after he read this poem. I really was born to be a husband, of course, but I knew what he meant, and it was true and sweet. The inspiration for this poem did not deserve the sentiments, and he has never read them. I am very proud of this poem. Written September 26, 2014 and included in the collection “The One Who Sends Flowers.”
