When I take in this view my heart sings
In octaves so high they could pierce the sky
Were they not contained in me.
It makes me long for a set of wings
So I could tread the wind that gusts on high
And glimpse eternity.
I consider the days I've yet to live,
All of the past gone through the sieve
Yet bask in the presence of now
And all of life makes sense somehow.
That's all I need to keep the fires burning;
Something real and life-affirming.
