You credit me with a wisdom I have not earned.
This is only a result of what I have learned
From many a mind more-traveled than mine.
I held my head high as I stood in line
Knowing their example would be of service.
Now I stand in the wings no longer nervous,
Comfortable with my lines, well-rehearsed.
Any more pleasure and the dam will burst!
The gratitude I have is insurmountable
For now I've the strength to be held accountable -
Whether I fall to depths or climb sky high
I can rest assured of the reasons why.
Occupying my place once left me withered and frayed.
Now I hear a voice calling to me - "Don't be afraid."
