I am a girl with a mouth like a bird.
My words fly out 'cause they wanna be heard.
I have my own story to tell.
If you don't wanna hear it, oh well.
Go ahead, plug your ears. It's your loss.
You are not my parent. You are not my boss.
So what if you don't like the words I have to say?
I'm just gonna say them anyway.
I'm not stupid, ignorant or blind.
You can't put a cage of rules around my mind.
I am free to control my own thoughts.
You say "bring it." Guess what? It's brought!
You want me to be just like you.
Ha! Fat chance. You can't tell me what to do.
I am nobody's identical clone.
My personality is all my own.
There's a whole group of people who are similar to me.
We have the courage to be what the world doesn't wanna see.
We are called poets and we speak the truth.
We scream and shout our days as youth.
We've seen it all and we've heard it all.
We are here to knock down that wall -
The wall built up to keep us from knowing
The truth about life, the one that allows us to keep growing.
Yesterday is over and today is just beginning.
Time for us to start anew. Time for us to start living.
