"hallowed hollowing"

Taking in ragged rasps of breath,

tension gathers along the ribs,

compressing the system into a single vector,

forcing deeper structures to respond.

Cartilage strains under the load,

channels narrow,

and the body begins converting

pressure into interior heat.

When the threshold breaks,

weeping marrow from hollowing bone,

the system releases what the surface

could no longer carry.
