Don’t Forget Our Number
Their modern math began to fade,
Re‑wiring lines that history made.
They count their steps through six–seven,
And turn their eyes away from heaven,
Forgetting truths they’d rather leaven—
Not seven‑eleven, nor nine‑eleven.
Before their crafted numbers fell,
Before the stories they would tell,
A greater sequence stood in line—
Before six, seven, there was nine, eleven.
