when you grow old

When you are cradled by morning’s gentle glow,

And the kettle’s soft whisper stirs your sleepy mind,

Remember how your laughter helped our spirits grow,

And spread warm light in every heart you find.

And many will cherish the brightness of your smile,

And treasure the stories shared by your steady hand;

But one will hold your kindness across every mile,

And know your quiet strength through all time’s shifting sand.

Pull out that weathered album, turn it slow, leaf by leaf,

Count each tender moment captured there;

See how every photograph brings both joy and relief,

And shows how deeply you have loved and cared.

And when twilight settles softly on your day,

And quiet wraps the rooms you’ve warmed so well,

You’ll feel our friendship echo where shadows play,

A gentle song no passing hour could quell.
