Untitled piece

There’s a saying that goes,

“I wish you met me before all these bad things happened to me.”

But in reality?

I’m glad you met me after.

After everything.

So I can show you how I survived it.

It was messy.

It was ugly.

But somehow, through the fire…

I stayed.

I learned to live in it.

I called it my home.

I danced with the embers and smoke.

It wasn’t perfect.

It wasn’t easy.

But it's real.

These scars—

they remind me I overcame something that meant to dim my light.

But still I shine.

Even through cracks

running down my inverted spine.

Like the roots of a tree

buried deep in the ground,

while sunlight breaks through the leaves—

I shine.

Like fault lines that never broke me,

but surely shook me.

And now?

I can show you

what survival

looks like.
