Milwaukee drift

Today I awoke mid-drift around 5p.m.
I combed myself across hardwood floors and
Friday night sediment to roll myself a smoke.
I stopped along the way to peer through tiny
cracks in the blinds with a tapestry of
apathetic daydreams cloaked from shoulder to shoulder.
I watched as the people shuffled along to and from
their tombs of employment.

Eyes ablaze with frigid despair, lost in their heavy
coats and gloves they shuffled through the snow banks.
I lit up my cigarette.
A ritualistic embodiment of life itself.

Pristine and fugacious in all it's glory.
