Brushing Autumn (a Terzanelle poem)

The wind brushed Autumn through the trees,

replacing summer’s verdant hue…

the wind brushed Autumn through the trees…

on easels of September blue.

A palette of red, gold and green…

replacing summer’s verdant hue,

splashed vibrantly over the scene.

Bright emerald eyes of leaves now turn

a palette of red, gold and green,

to gaze back once… in tender yearn…

for petals blush of seasons passed.

Bright emerald eyes of leaves now turn

to dream within their shadows cast …

as crimson leaves began to fall

for petals blush of seasons passed.

With citrine sunlight bathing all,

the wind brushed Autumn through the trees…

As crimson leaves began to fall …

the wind brushed Autumn through the trees
