Wooded glade sparkles
in moon-drenched night.
Leaf curtained branches spread,
revealing a magical sight.
Nimble Fairy alights,
on tiptoe,
arms reaching to the sky.
Glitter-winged dancer
pirouetting,
head held high.
Crickets chirp nature’s music
for her pleasure
Crystal clear lake tinkles,
adding lullaby
for good measure.
In the shadows,
he silently watches
his beloved Fairy dance,
Spellbound,
breath held
in a blissful trance.
Ethereal pixie twirls
gracefully,
joyfully unaware.
Alas,
The Guardian Wind whispers.
She feels his intent stare.
Midnight ballet,
interrupted,
comes abruptly to conclusion.
Frightened doe
scans trees rapidly
in confusion.
Silence
amplifies the thunderous roar
of twin heartbeats;
as in what feels like eons,
their eyes finally meet.
His,
beseeching,
imploring,
begging her not to take flight.
Hers,
wary,
uncertain,
prepared to disappear into the night.
Sweat beads on his brow.
He endeavors to show
that he means her no harm.
He whispers, “Please, don’t go.”
“My heart is yours, dear Fairy.”
”Please talk for a while.”
Gazes lock.
Souls touch.
His Fairy smiles.
