The Thing
On the path of destruction and wretchedness
It gnaws on the less unfortunate
Leaving a bloody mess
And stomachs it with one almighty breath
Our Earth is its hellish void
Exposed to its horrific name and noise
Children led into the night only to be left behind
Their mothers left open wide for all to see in plain sight
My shelter has been torn apart
A curse is sworn upon my heart
All we can do is mourn while limbs get ripped apart
Spitting out nonsense, voicing that it’s pissed
The necks of guardians become limp from the twist
With every echoing snap their children can’t speak
Knowing only how to reach
Letting us drop like flies to hold the dead in our lap
The thing begins to preach…
“I’ve become dumb, I’ve become a leech
I say I don’t amount to anything
I say my reach will not reach
I’ve become dumb, I’ve become a leech
I may not amount to anything
My reach my not reach
The beating heart that was alive inside devoured
Troubles fleeting turn me coward
My eyes are wide with no more good desired”
And the thing continues to preach…

Which cannot speak of what lies behind underneath

And the thing continues to preach…
“How do I become the greatness I’ve seen?
I drop to my knees and beg of you please teach
Because on the path of destruction and wretchedness
Every being will decease
Show the path to love and peace
Reveal all of your secrets to me”
