My Godfather’s Cars

My godfather, who is also my favorite uncle, always liked cars since I can remember. He really liked and took care of them. Every Sunday in the morning he was in the porch washing his car, always with a smile, he really enjoyed it. He took his time for everything. He started with the inside of the car, he picked up the garbage it had (which was practically nothing) and with a vacuum he removed the dust. And for the exterior he first cleaned the dirt and dust of the car with a sponge and a bucket of water, then with his favorite car shampoo (which had wax) he soaped the car, after that it was time for the wheels and they were cleaned with more of this shampoo and had a finish of armor all. When the car was now clean he gave to the inside a scent of cinnamon, fresh pine-tree, or his favorite, coconut. But Sunday was not the only day in which he gave some care to his car. Every day he cleaned it a bit, with a clean cloth he removed the dust from the inside and outside of the car. I recall that his first car was a Tubular, one of those cars that are basically just the chassis and look that are made off just with tubes. He really liked it even though he didn’t used it in some dessert, which are them for, but instead he made trips with his friends to the woods and made some rally races. He really liked the races, so he also had entered some more but in a racetrack with his black Chrysler Neon.  He had more many cars after this one, a red Nissan Tsuru, a dark green Jeep truck, a white 2001 Volvo S60, and his favorite the Topaz metallic 2002 Jaguar X-Type. I met this three last cars when I visited my uncle for the first time at Houston in 2012, where he is living now since he left Mexico in 2007 when I was 11. I missed him so much all that time, but he had to go to the USA to find a better job. He always had been a hard worker man, in Mexico his main job was being a baker, and he loved it but he saw a better future for him and for the family in the USA (he had always supported his mother, my grandmother) so he could send more money. When I came to Houston and visited him in his new house, I was really happy for him, he had stable jobs, the Jaguar and the Volvo, a house and was soon to get married. He taught me how to drive in that trip, we went to some lakes and had a lot of fun together. I am always waiting for the day when we can see us again, and that we ride to any great place in one of his cars.
