This day marks the one year anniversary,
he could recall that moment vividly.
An offer of platonic friendship,
which he reluctantly agreed.
The chemistry did not sizzle,
though her sight often made his heart flutter.
On this day of independence,
millions celebrate in a free nation.
Closer to home and island part,
dedicates this poem on a virtual card.
On this day he pledges to her,
an affirmation of friendship it is clear.
Through thick and thin, time immemorial,
friends forever, in his heart holds dear.
